Every Thursday I would go to my Master’s house for practicing music. We would sit down and spend the afternoon practicing chords, singing, composing, mixing; everything you can imagine. He was my Master. He had one of this finest metronome that we would use during our sessions. He said he got as a gift from one of the most important maestros of our city by that time and he has kept it with him for years. It was a symbol of his dreams coming true.

One day he left me alone in the room for some minutes while I practiced one of the music score he had given me as homework. You might already know what happened. I broke the metronome. It was a very special one and I had no idea on how to fix or if it was even fixable. I was so scared. He came into the room and I had to tell him. I gathered all of my courage and showed him the broken metronome. I was so scared he would be very upset, or even angry at me because I’ve always been clumsy. Do you know the first thing he said? “That’s great, I’ll finally have a new metronome!”

Can you see? That’s what it is to have a peaceful mind. If this way is blocked, it’s okay to go this way, it’s still good. We will make it good. I will not be in grieve all day long for multiple weeks for something I’ve lost. What I do about what I lost, about this situation is actually the reality of here and now. I can’t only be regretting, crying and be in grief for what I lost. Of course we have those moments and we have to go through this emotion, it’s human. However, after that I will get something new. I will have new experiences. Something new is coming.

How do I use this something new that is coming in order to bring me happiness? It’s going to be different. Everything is different. Looking at the bright side of things is actually bringing YOU back to YOU. Bringing back to yourself, you will be looking deeper into you. It will make you start seeing your essence, your true self. And your true self doesn’t require something from the past that you have to be attached to. No. It’s free, because in life, we’re all free.
