sometimes the hardest part isn’t figuring out what you want.... it’s knowing exactly what you want and still not knowing how to get there.
"me, undoubtedly" is about that frustration.
i know what i want. i can imagine it, work toward it, write about it, manifest it, try again, put in the hours.... but there is still a part of life that is completely outside of my control.
that feeling is still very familiar to me now. i can believe in my music, believe i am a good songwriter, believe i have something to say.... but belief and effort don’t automatically make the world notice.
the song lives in that weird space between certainty and uncertainty. i know, undoubtedly, what i want.... but my life is not always producing the scenes i imagined.
and maybe that is the whole point of the song. sometimes you are not confused about the dream at all. you are just waiting for reality to catch up.
