"may be fate" is about wanting certainty so badly that you start looking everywhere for an answer.
 
at the time, i was asking myself if love, work and all the choices i was making were happening because they were supposed to happen.... or if i still had the power to change direction.
 
part of me wanted fate to be real because it would make everything easier. if there was already a path written somewhere, maybe i could stop worrying so much. but the song also questions that comfort.... would knowing my future actually make me feel safer?
 
the visuals connect directly to that idea. throughout the "2016, life" videos, i kept pulling tarot cards and carrying mystical stones, which became part of the visual language of the era. it was also a way of connecting to my more intuitive and mystical side while i was genuinely searching for answers.
 
originally shared only with friends and family on july 2, 2017, this song was officially released under CANTIBEALL years later as part of the surprise release of "2016, life".
