when you fall for someone, their little world starts leaking into yours.... their habits, their hobbies, the things they drink, the places they go.
max introduced me to craft beers, camping and climbing. i introduced him to tea. we shared clothes, food, little routines.... and at some point i even decided i should start running so i could run beside him. that part never really happened hahaha.
but underneath all the cute details, there is a question in this song that i still like a lot: how much should love change you? being with someone can inspire you to try new things and become a different version of yourself, but you also shouldn't have to rebuild your whole personality just to deserve their love.
and yes.... the title is a little dirty too hahaha. "topping me up" literally means refilling my drink, which fits all the IPAs and Earl Greys in the song. but in gay sex, "top" has another meaning.... so "coming and topping me up" was very intentionally doing both things at once. love, drinks and sex all mixed together in one stupid little phrase.
